The data in Kordiam is backed up several times per hour to secure data servers at our world-class hosting provider.
In addition to this, we offer a simple feature that backs up the most important data on a daily basis to a server specified by you.
Goal of the ftp backup feature
We want to ensure that your newsroom can keep on working even if there are massive disruptions to the internet or anything else happens that blocks you from accessing your data stored in Kordiam.
This feature does not intend to fully back up all the data you have stored in Kordiam. Example: We assume that for all the files (e.g. attachments) you have uploaded to Kordiam there is a local copy on your servers or in your email inboxes. Therefore this feature does not back up such files.
How it works
Kordiam backs up the most important data of your company's entire story planning and event lists for five days every night.
Two files are backed up: One file for the story planning and one with the calendar (i.e. event lists). With every nightly backup cycle, the old files are replaced with new ones.
The files come in the .xlsx format which can be opened with MS Excel or Google Docs.
Setting up the ftps backup
Please create a folder on an ftps server on your company's network to which the files should be backed up. Make sure the server can be accessed from the internet.
Go to the page Admin > Security Settings. You need to have Kordiam admin rights for this.
In the "ftp Backup" area enter the URL of the folder on the ftps server and the login details for the server. You may want to test the connection by clicking on "Test ftp connection".
Please note that we track all changes made to these settings and send out emails to all Kordiam admins inside your company whenever a change to these settings is made. We also send out notification emails should we loose connection to the ftps server.
